Diabetes: Diabetes Information
There are countless sources of quality diabetes information in books, magazines, the Internet, and in doctors offices around the world. Diabetes continues to affect millions of people worldwide and remains a potentially life threatening ailment. In fact, diabetes is now the leading cause of death in Mexico as of 2004.
Current and accurate diabetes information is thus crucial for those suffering from the disease as well as for their family members. Because the disease remains widespread, research continues at a high rate and new diabetes information is released in journals and magazines regularly. Several current research projects are underway that hope to genetically engineer no-pancreatic cells to produce insulin.
Sources for Diabetes Information
For many diabetics, the inability to properly produce insulin is caused by pancreatic problems. In other words, the pancreas is unable to make enough insulin because of cancer or other dysfunction. By genetically engineering other cells to produce insulin, diabetics could theoretically stop using supplemental insulin altogether.
Like any disease, sufferers benefit from arming themselves with the most current information available. Knowing the enemy, so to speak, is the best way to defeat it. Hopefully, with continued research in the field, a cure will be discovered that will end the disease once and for all.
